Enjoy Holi without Creating Havoc for your Skin & Hair
Holi is just around the corner and we can’t keep calm! Preparations have already started in every household.
From mouthwatering delicacies like gujia, malpua to bhang ke pakore to stocking up on colours, the Holi fever has set it. While it is a fun festival to celebrate, it can take a toll on your skin thanks to the harsh chemicals in colours. Even if you use organic colours, you still need to protect your skin so that it does not get damaged from being in the sun for long hours and prep it so that the colours come off easily.
So if you are eagerly waiting for the festival of colours but are also worried about the aftermath on your skin, here’s a help.
These essential skin care tips are what you need to follow straightaway to avert nasty skin problems that can erupt after Holi.
Essential Pre-Holi Skin Care Tips
1. Ice Cubes are super helpful!
Rubbing ice cubes on your face before going out to play Holi works wonders in closing the pores of your skin. Rub ice cubes on a clean face for about 10-15 mins and you can ensure that the harmful colours can’t penetrate your skin and cause outbursts.
2. Oil your skin
Who said you can only oil your hair? Oiling your skin with organic essential oils are a great way to restore the natural texture of your skin. Essential oils also have miraculous effects on treating acne and other severe skin allergies.
We recommend Flora Moisturize Body Oil- It contains cold pressed coconut oil, cold pressed almond oil, shea butter & cocoa butter which works wonders for the skin
3. Apply Moisturize/Body Lotion/Sunscream
At least 20 to 30 minutes before you step out to play with colours, apply a water-resistant sunscreen with high SPF (40 or more) to ensure that wet colours do not wash it off too quickly to let the sun burn your skin. Also, apply lots of moisturizer on face and plenty of body lotion all over exposed skin area. You can apply these on top of your sunscreen too. This shields your skin from sunlight and colours.
We recommend Delicious Choco Vanilla Skin Hydrator- It hydrates & nourishes the skin: Protect skin and cells from sun damage.
4. Paint your Nails
In addition to your skin, it is also very important to protect your nails from getting damaged during Holi. Applying a thick coat of nail paint will keep the colours from harming your cuticles.
5. Apply Lip Balm
To protect your lips from the harmful chemicals and colours, apply lip balm instead of a lipstick. It will keep your lips protected and hydrated while you enjoy the festival!
We recommend Sensitive Lips Unscented Balm. It protects you from skin allergies and irritation, contains Avocado oil, Kokum Butter, Cocoa Butter, Shea Butter, Vitamin E.
Essential Post-Holi Skin Care Tips
1. Stay away from harsh soaps and face washes
Most soaps and face washes in the market these days are laced with chemicals and can rip off the alkaline nature of your skin. You can instead opt for organic soaps.
We recommend Orange Citronella and Multani Mitti Shea Soap. Benefits of Orange combined with Multani Mitti treat the skin just right to retain your skin moisture and leave it soft, contains Coconut Oil, Olive Oil, Flaxseed Oil, Castor Oil, Shea butter, Multani Mitti, Sweet Orange.
2. Go Natural
Natural face masks and packs are the best! They not only sooth your skin but also help restore the natural balance of it. Try using ubtan, natural ingredients have healing power to your skin.
We recommend Ubtan(Body Scrub). It nourishes it from deep inside and gives fresh and healthy skin.
3. Hair Cleansing
First, wash your hair with plenty of plain water to rinse out as much colour as possible. Then, shampoo with a sulphate and paraben free shampoo. Follow up with hair conditioning.
We recommend Reetha Shampoo Bar. It is formulated with the goodness of hair strengthening & softening herbs like reetha, coconut milk, aloe vera, bhringraj, rosemary, amla, hibiscus flower, methi, Brahmi & neem.
We recommend Hair Hydrator, it removes roughness from the hair and provides nourishment with anti-hair fall benefits.
4. Use of Oil
Mild Oil is great for your skin and hair. Use cotton balls to gently apply it.
We recommend Cold-pressed Extra Virgin Coconut Oil. It is light and non-greasy suitable for massaging, it is an excellent makeup remover and great for pre and post-bath.
5. Drink ample amount of water
The importance of drinking water can’t be stressed enough. Drinking 7-8 glasses of water every day can ward off skin problems and many other internal diseases. As a post-Holi skin care routine, don’t forget to drink lots of water to keep you hydrated and your skin acne free.
These simple yet effective skincare routines, if followed properly can keep your skin problem free even after Holi. Don’t let the fear of skin troubles bother you any longer!
Wishing everyone a fun-filled and safe Holi!!
